Chief Larry Nardoni

1957 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chief Nardoni. Chief Nardoni was a dedicated leader, mentor, and friend to many of us in the fire department, and his loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Chief Nardoni began his career with the Steger Fire Department in 1978 and rose to the rank of Captain.  He left the Steger Fire Department to join the South Chicago Heights Fire Department in 1996.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1999, Assistant Chief in 2000 and Fire Chief in 2009.  Chief Nardoni retired in 2017.  Chief Nardoni's 39 years of service and commitment to the fire service has left an indelible mark on all of us, and his legacy will continue to inspire us in our work. His leadership, passion, and unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our community have set a standard of excellence that we will strive to uphold in his memory.

 

The family is organizing the wake and funeral arrangements to honor Chief Nardoni's life and contributions to the Steger and South Chicago Heights Fire Department's. Details will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
